US, UK Leaders Hold Talks on Global Challenges

(MENAFN) US Secretary of State Marco Rubio held talks on Friday with Yvette Cooper, the United Kingdom’s top diplomat, to address a range of pressing global matters, according to an official statement.

During the meeting, both officials agreed to press ahead with diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving the conflict between Russia and Ukraine through negotiations, as stated by authorities. They reiterated their intention to pursue a political solution to the war rather than a prolonged military confrontation.

The two sides also highlighted the need for sustained collaboration regarding developments in Syria. In addition, they discussed advancing the second phase of President Donald Trump’s 20-point framework concerning Gaza.

"They both underscored their shared focus on securing a humanitarian truce in Sudan," per the statement.

Overall, the discussions reflected a continued alignment between Washington and London on several major international crises, with both governments signaling their determination to coordinate closely in the weeks ahead.
