UK Royal Palace Prepared to Assist Police with Ex-Prince Andrew Probe

(MENAFN) Britain’s royal palace said Monday it is prepared to support police as they investigate allegations involving former Prince Andrew and the late US sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Thames Valley Police confirmed they are reviewing claims that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, as he is now known, may have shared confidential documents with Epstein during his tenure as the UK’s trade envoy. The former royal has consistently denied any wrongdoing.

In a statement, Buckingham Palace said, “the King has made clear, in words and through unprecedented actions, his profound concern at allegations which continue to come to light in respect of Mr. Mountbatten-Windsor's conduct.”

The palace emphasized that addressing the specific claims is Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s responsibility but indicated it would cooperate with law enforcement. “While the specific claims in question are for Mr. Mountbatten-Windsor to address, if we are approached by Thames Valley Police, we stand ready to support them as you would expect,” the statement said.

Reaffirming its stance on victims of abuse, the palace added, “As was previously stated, Their Majesties’ thoughts and sympathies have been, and remain with, the victims of any and all forms of abuse.”

These allegations surfaced following the latest release of documents related to Epstein by the US Department of Justice.
