Tens of Thousands of People Protest in Europe in Support of Palestine
In the United Kingdom, large crowds of pro-Palestinian demonstrators assembled at London’s Russell Square before marching toward Whitehall, home to the prime minister’s office at 10 Downing Street and other major government institutions.
The national demonstration was organized in protest of what participants described as Israel’s ongoing genocide against Palestinians. Protesters condemned alleged ceasefire violations in Gaza and criticized the British government for maintaining arms exports to Israel.
Waving Palestinian flags and holding placards, demonstrators chanted slogans against Israel and the UK government, calling on British authorities, public bodies, and companies to withdraw support for actions they say breach international law.
British lawmakers Zarah Sultana and John McDonnell took part in the march, alongside British-Palestinian doctor Ghassan Abu Sitta, who has previously worked in Gaza.
Along the route, a small group of pro-Israel demonstrators staged a counter-protest, carrying Israeli and British flags and attempting to provoke the marchers.
Meanwhile, in Sweden, hundreds of people gathered in Stockholm to protest Israel’s attacks on Gaza and restrictions on humanitarian aid. The demonstration, organized by several civil society groups, was held at Odenplan Square.
Participants accused Israel of breaching the ceasefire that came into effect on October 10, 2025, by continuing airstrikes and limiting the delivery of humanitarian assistance.
Protesters carried banners reading: “Children are being killed in Gaza,” “Schools and hospitals are being bombed,” “Stop the attacks on Gaza,” “End food restrictions,” and “Israel must comply with the peace agreement.”
